So you think you might be pregnant.
You might not have even missed your period yet, but maybe you feel things aren’t quite…normal.
And if you are still very early on in pregnancy, the pregnancy test might not come back positive yet, as the hGc levels are still climbing and not yet high enough to register on the at-home tests.
Here are some symptoms that you may be experiencing early in a pregnancy:
-
Breast tenderness, and possibly swelling.
-
Nausea / vomiting. While it’s called “morning sickness,” be prepared that these symptoms can crop up at any point in the day or night. But maybe you’ll be a lucky one who escapes pregnancy without this symptom!
-
Increased urination. Your body will produce more blood during pregnancy, which means your kidneys also produce more fluid.
-
Fatigue. As the levels of progesterone increase in early pregnancy, you might feel increasingly tired. It’s common, and usually it begins to subside in the second trimester.
-
Spotting. Some women will experience spotting, or implantation bleeding, right around the time they miss their period.
-
Slight cramping. Your body is already undergoing changes, so there may be some mild uterine cramping.
-
Constipation. Hormonal changes cause digestion to slow down, leading to constipation, so be sure to drink water and eat fiber.
-
Food aversions / heightened sense of smell. This is a “fun” one. Who knows what smells will suddenly overwhelm you when you’re at the gym? And maybe a meal you’ve always loved suddenly doesn’t taste so great. It’s definitely possible that you’ll have some interesting aversions, or—on the flip side—cravings.
